Sunset and full moon rising hike Sunday 1 Feb 26, Bredon Hill
Details
On Sunday 1 February there will be a chance, weather permitting, to watch the moon rise and, shortly after, see the sun set. For a short while, both could be bright and visible, opposite each other, low in the sky.
We will meet near the Church in Overbury for a 3.30pm start, and climb Bredon Hill. The moon will start to rise just after 4:15pm, as we should be nearing the summit. The sun will set just before 5pm. Bredon Hill has excellent views, including across the Severn Valley and onto the Malvern Hills.
The walk should take about 3 hours including a couple stops, getting us to the Yew Tree in time for any early evening drink for anyone interested. Chips and other bar snacks also available.
There is usually plentifully street parking close to the church, but please park considerately in this quiet residential area.
The walk itself is free but we ask that anyone who easily can consider making a suggested £2.50 donation to food banks - Kevin Beamish 31827226 09-01-26, Ref “1 Feb 26”
If you’ve never done a headtorch walk before, give this one a try! They can be great fun, and seeing the moon rise and sun set almost simultaneously is a sight well worth seeing.
If you would like to borrow a headtorch, please message Kevin or comment on the Event page
The village of Overbury is roughly between Bishops Cleeve and Pershore, easily reached from the A46 or M5
Well behaved dogs are welcome.
Disclaimer. If you join the event, we walk together as a group of friends with each one of us responsible for our own safety.
