Join us to see a great sunset (hopefully!) after which we will continue by headtorch and moon light. Option of drinks outside at The Langton after.

This is the same route as used January, but bad very weather led to most people cancelling then. Points of interest:

o Belas Knap. A neolithic longbarrow (human burial site) thought to be about 5,000 years old

o Breakheart Plantation. A small wood in a steep valley.

o The springs that are the source of the River Isbourne, and a nearby washpool.

o Cleeve Cloud. Usually considered the highest point in the Cotswolds (depending on what you take as its boundary).

o Two improbably located derelict buildings that may interest some.

The sun will set just after 6:30pm. There will not be a full moon but it will be over 80% of full illumination.

A donation of £2.50 is suggested for foodbanks or other good causes, please pay be bank transfer: Kevin Beamish 31827226 09-01-26, Ref “28 March 26”.

We will meet at Pylons carpark – it is free and further details are below

Whilst some level of fitness is required the total elevation for this walk is only 290m

If you’ve never tried a hike in darkness before, give this one a try! The moon creates more light than some might assume, even if it’s cloudy, and if there’s a group of us with headtorches, its great fun and there is usually ample light.

Disclaimer: If you join this event it is on the understanding that we will be walking together as a group of friends, with each one of us is responsible for their own safety.

Pylons carpark is about a mile from the top of Aggs Hill.
From Cheltenham, Aggs Hill can be reached in two ways. Firstly, from Greenway Lane, at Sixways, simply drive up the hill.
Or it can be reached from Harp Hill, starting close to the Tesco’s Local at Battledown.
From the top of Aggs Hill, turn left and the carpark is about a mile down that lane.

Please be a little wary of the exact PIN location shown on Meetup - it won't be far out but it is difficult to set accurately. Pylons Carpark is well known locally and you can message Kevin if unsure.
