Painswick Walk, 9 miles circular

Join us for a beautiful and varied 9-mile circular walk from Painswick, taking in some of the finest countryside and viewpoints around the Stroud valleys.

The route climbs out through the surrounding hills and ancient woodlands, passing Oliver Cromwell’s Seat, before emerging onto open high ground with magnificent long-distance views across the Cotswolds and Severn Vale. Several trig points and high viewpoints provide excellent places to stop and appreciate the surrounding landscape.

• Character: Hilly and varied, with some excellent climbs and rewarding panoramic views

• Duration: 4.5-5 hours

There is an option of extending this walk to 12 miles, if anyone wishes to do so.

If it has been wet in the week prior, please expect some mud in places. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the conditions and please bring a lunch and a drink. Dogs welcome but must be kept on leads where there is cattle etc.

We can find a pub for a drink afterwards.

Meet in Stamages lane car park for a prompt 9am start.
