First Lead Yourself: A conversation with Esther Derby & Don Gray

That's the gap we explore in this session: what has to be true of you to unleash your own leadership. Esther Derby and Don Gray will share some of the capacities that form the foundation for leadership.

Esther Derby has been called one of the most influential voices within the agile communities. Since starting Esther Derby Associates, Inc. in 1997, she has influenced a generation of leaders in companies across the world, making work more enjoyable, creative, and effective. She co-authored “Agile Retrospectives: Making Good Teams Great”, “Behind Closed Doors: Secrets of Great Management" and co-founded the Retrospective Facilitators Gathering and the Amplifying Your Effectiveness conference.

Don Gray works with executives and managers building coherent organizational structure, processes, policies, and goals where teams can flourish. This creates sustainable work environments that fulfill organizational needs and enable personal growth. This work is informed by his deep study of communication, personality types, team styles, systems thinking, and human systems dynamics. You can find a number of his articles published at Better Software magazine and StickyMinds.com. He is a frequent conference speaker, including Agile Development Practices and the Agile 201x Conferences.
