THE Costume Party Run!!!
That's right, we do more than dive.
Lets get crazy without getting wet for once!

WHO: You, significant others, kids, friends, strangers.
WHAT: The Costume Party Run is a fun run/walk. Everyone wears costumes. Maybe test out this year's Halloween costume, make use of one from the past, or just create something new that's crazy. There are three distances, something for everyone: 5k, 10k, Half Marathon. Checkout their website: http://costumepartyrun.com/
WHEN: Sunday, July 13th. 6:00 AM (Welcome to the running world.) Possibly later start times for different distances. (Details to follow)
WHERE: Qualcomm Stadium

WHY: Because we need to get that medal! It's the biggest medal for all runs anywhere! It's huge. It has a disco ball in it! And we need to have more fun. And we need to stay in shape for diving.
HOW: Register today before prices go up on 4/21. I found a couple of promo codes, you can look for others:
• Promo code AXBEAT421 will get you up to $25 off, depending upon which distance you choose.
• Promo code CPR10 may get you $10 off.
• RSVP here in the Power Scuba event so we know you are going.
• Go to the event website and register (pay) there. You must sign up with them to run. http://costumepartyrun.com/register/
• Be sure to join team "Power Scuba" during the registration process. (No password required.)
• Get those fun costumes ready.
• Pickup your race packet the day before the run on Saturday 7/12 from 10AM to 6PM at Road Runner Sports San Diego: 5553 Copley Dr, San Diego, (858) 974-4455
• Bring your enthusiastic spirit to the race on Sunday 7/13.
BOARDING: It's not on a boat. Carpooling is suggested. Use the Comments section below to organize rides.
SKILLS: Because there are three distances (5k, 10k, Half Marathon), there is something for everyone. Because of the humor involved, this run is NOT considered "advanced"... though a strong skill-set at any level will allow you to perform these runs safely. Stay within your skill-set and comfort level.
Pointers:
• BRING YOUR "A" GAME
• Hydrate really well.
• Eat a small, non-greasy breakfast.
• Bring something to keep you warm before/after the run (overcoat, boat jacket, pajamas, etc).
• Bring a dive light for peering into nooks and crannies. (Huh?)
• End your run close to the finish and meetup with the rest of us.
• ALWAYS bring your running essentials: shoes, sunscreen, car keys, beer money (at a minimum)!
• Don't forget to tip Jonathan if he does a good job for you! (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/messages/boards/thread/21783462/) This one's just as important as any other point in this list. He isn't there for your safety, but he likes to think he is. Please show your appreciation.
Run Etiquette Reminder:
• Don't be late.
• Get creative with your costume.
• Bring a great attitude.
• Don't rinse your face or running gear in my car!
• Don't drink and drive. (For real!)
• If you have to throw up, do it downwind (leeward), NOT IN THE HEAD. (This one actually applies to running too.)
• If you have to cancel, do it well before the cutoff time so that the group can poke fun of you and make you change your mind.
Now that THAT's out of the way.... RSVP!!!
ADMIN STUFF YOU MUST READ:
The Virtual Donation Jar (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/messages/boards/thread/9702303) is always out (for the Meetup site costs and general fund). It's strictly voluntary, but is very much appreciated and needed: Click here for the (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/messages/boards/thread/9702303) DONATION JAR (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/messages/boards/thread/9702303)

If you have not submitted a Liability Release for Power Scuba, please follow this link to the file, print, sign, and bring to the event along with your R-Card (run certification card) (Huh?). You need to do this at least once a year: Liability Release and Assumption of Risk (http://files.meetup.com/1307107/New_Liability_Release.doc)
You must also read this: Disclaimer and Clarification... AKA Terms of Service...AKA Terms and Conditions (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/messages/boards/thread/5914647)
Anyone with a medical condition possibly counter-indicitive to running must have a doctors signature on a running waiver form and submit signed form to Bill Powers (or an organizer) before they may attend any Power Scuba running event. YOU MAY NOT ATTEND AN EVENT WITH AN UNDISCLOSED MEDICAL CONDITION. Doing so is grounds for expulsion from the group. Here is our medical statement: Medical Statement (http://files.meetup.com/1307107/Medical%20Statement%20and%20Questionnaire.pdf) Therein you'll find a Doctor Waiver form as well.
Attending any running event Power Scuba facilitates constitutes attendee's affirmation they are medically fit to run, certified to run by a nationally-recognized agency (huh?), have the necessary skill & training level for the run being offered, have read the Terms and Conditions, and have submitted a signed Liability Release to an organizer.
Important Note: It is not the organizer's role to lead your run (or to wait for you after you finsh). He/she merely facilitates you getting to the pre-run meeting location. The Organizer will not assign you drinking buddies nor will he/she be leading the run as a "group run". Visibility and liability do not allow for that. Huh? Nor will the Organizer tell you whether you are skilled enough to make any particular run. That is for you (only) to decide. When you start the run, you (and your drinking buddies) are on your own. You must plan and execute your run with your run buddies only. Once members arrive at the running spot, the Organizer becomes simply another drunk runner.
Power Scuba bears no responsibility or liability for a member's loss (gas, airfare, hotel fees, etc) in the event of a cancelled event.
Your participation constitutes your affirmation you agree to these above rules and disclaimers.... and that your buddy(s) (if applicable) has read and agrees to the same.
