About us
Established in 2009, we are a dynamic group of professionals that view State College as a great place to call home. It's no secret that State College is a transient town. We understand it can be difficult to socialize and feel close to the community. SCYP creates a welcoming environment for all young professionals. We may be a group young professionals, but at heart this is a organization to socialize. Our members are typically between the ages of 22 and 45, but we do not have an age requirement. If you are young at heart and have a passion for our area, you're welcome...no encouraged...to join!

No matter what brings you to the State College area, we are one community. At SCYP, we believe in being active and involved in making our community a better place. We volunteer and fundraise with a passion and energy for everyone living in Happy Valley.
Work
Everyone’s favorite subject! Chances are you might have moved to State College for a new job or potentially graduate school (that’s work, right?) We get it. We work here, too! SCYP provides a year-round forum for young professionals to connect, collaborate, and learn from each other. No matter your profession, together we build a foundation upon which State College can build its future.
Play
Life can’t be all work – We have some fun along! State College has an abundance of opportunities to kick back, relax, and have fun. Whether you are settling down or passing through, we may be colleagues and neighbors, but most of all, we are friends.Whether it’s on the softball field, at a happy hour, or volunteering, SCYP offers events to meet new people and make new friends.

University Wine Co is hosting trivia, so join us for a fun night! This is a University Wine Co event so we'll have a table or two. There will NOT be a check-in table, but we'll let you know where we are in the event discussion. We encourage new and prospective members to come to this small group event.
The venue sells charcuterie boards but not traditional food. You can bring your own food since they don’t have a food truck that day.

SCYP Mixed Pothos (Plant) Hanging Basket Class at Smith and Front
Smith + Front, 126 S Allegheny St, Bellefonte, PA, USCome get your houseplant on and join us at the lovely Smith and Front space in Bellefonte to create your own 6″ mixed pothos hanging basket. Each participant will choose two plants from a curated assortment and learn how to pot and care for them. All supplies, tools, and step-by-step instructions are included. 🌿✨
Cost and registration: $16.00 per person, to be paid as part of the Smith and Front class form linked below in the SCYP registration form.
Each participant must register for this event with both SCYP and Smith and Front.
