The Arena Awaits...

Needs a location

The Arena awaits the souls of those destined for combat. The Master of Conflict forged a realm from the primordial essence of the Astral Plane, and created a demiplane known to adventurers and luminaries from around the multiverse as The Arena. Herein, those selected participate in deadly combat. Winners gain fame and fortune, while the fallen are forgotten.

The Arena is a game focused on combat, great for learning the raw mechanics of the game, & trying out new builds. Players can bring 1 to 4 characters for arena-play. Use the point-buy system, average HP rounded up for levels 2-20. As a house-rule, all arena characters start with a feat. Variant humans & custom lineage are not playable races in the arena. The Arena is drop in/drop out. Your characters will retain all prestige and Astral Tokens earned from game to game.

All official wizards of the coast 5e books are fair game, & you can use any number of books for your builds. All arena characters start at 1st level.

The phases of play are as follows:

  1. Downtime. Each character can visit 1 of 4 facilities: The Temple (grants inspiration & restorative magic), The Hunting Grounds (earn gold rounding up monsters), The Magic Shop (buy stuff), The Tavern (grants temporary hit points & yes/no questions about your next bout).

  2. Prep (at this point you are thrown in a holding-cell/green room with the unfortunates you will be fighting alongside of. Some of them you may never have met before. The characters can cast spells, rituals, plan, short-rest, etc. Effects with casting times of 1 minute or less & durations over 1 minute would be in effect during the bout.

  3. When the combatants are told to enter the arena they have one final round to take a pre-emptive action. This can be something like blade-ward, or raging, or lighting a torch, or bless, etc. usually something that has a short duration.

  4. Declarations: let the DM know any thing of note. Example. 'Ok, DM, Cornwallis is coming in with a longsword in one hand and his wand of magic missiles in the other. I've got 1st level mage armor cast on me, and 2nd level aid, & right before we go in, I'm going to channel divinity and walk in there with my aura going. I've also got goggles of night, so I can see in the dark."

  5. Roll initiative

Weekly Dungeons and Dragons (Wizards of the Coast's Official Campaign - Adventurer's League) Event

We have multiple tables reserved at At Ease Games on Wednesday nights from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. We have tables reserved throughout the store. Just ask the staff, and they will direct you to us.

We are currently running current season for Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and Waterdeep: Dungeon (levels 1-5) of the Mad Mage (levels 5-20) adventure path. The goal for this season is to give players the opportunity to level from first to twentieth; something that has been lacking in prior seasons. It's the perfect time to join a table and enjoy the adventure! In addition to Dragon Heist and the Dungeon of the Mad Mage, we also offer other adventures: The Embers of the Last War (set in Eberron) story arc, The Lost Mines of Phandelver and the Waterdeep DDAL PDF story arc. Saltmarsh adventures will also be available if a DM wishes to run them.

For new players, we can provide pre-generated character to help you get started in the game. Alternatively, you can create your own character. We do follow the official campaign rules found here
(http://www.dmsguild.com/product/208178/DD-Adventurers-League-Players-Pack?&affiliate_id=925821). This is free to download. If you want to check out the rules before purchasing the rule book, you can download the basic version of the rules here (http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules). This is also a free download.

Since the season has progressed, we have tables for Tiers 1-3. Tier 4 tables will be available in the near future. We do form new tier one tables every week for new players. If you need help finding a seat, please ask: Justin or Tim. We are the event coordinators and will be more than happy to help you.

Also, we welcome, and are always looking for, new Dungeon Masters. We are part of the Adventurer's League and do follow the campaign guidelines. You can download them here (http://www.dmsguild.com/product/208178/DD-Adventurers-League-Players-Pack?&affiliate_id=925821). It's the same pack listed above; however, it does contain all the information necessary for both players and DMs. Keep in mind that our DMs do get a 15% discount on store purchases made on Wednesday night, Adventurer League rewards to help you level your own characters and the opportunity to play your own characters during our DMs Only Group scheduled for the second and fourth Saturday of each month. If you are interested in becoming a Dungeon Master, please ask for: Justin or Tim. We will be extremely happy to help you!

Here's a simplified list of downloads, in case they got buried in our welcoming wall of text:

• Dungeons and Dragons Basic Rules (http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules) (basically a lite version of the Player's Handbook)

• Adventurer's League Player's and DM Pack (http://www.dmsguild.com/product/208178/DD-Adventurers-League-Players-Pack?&affiliate_id=925821) (for character creation rules and standardization rules between tables)
