What we’re about

SD Circlesongs brings Circlesinging and Collaborative Vocal Improvisation (CVI) to the greater San Diego County. We offer Classes, Workshops, and Community Gatherings.

Pioneered by American vocalist, conductor, and composer Bobby McFerrin, Circlesongs is a form of collaborative singing where people come together to create spontaneous vocal improvisations, harmonies, rhythms, and melodies in a supportive group environment.

Build Confidence, Develop Musical Fluency, and Express Yourself through fun collaborative games and musical exercises that foster connection, collaboration, and self-development.

No previous musical or singing experience required!

You are invited to join us! Come and share You! Experience the joy of exploring your body and voice in a judgement-free environment. Play some games, have fun, challenge yourself trying something new, be willing to surprise yourself and grow, and leave energized and inspired, making new friends and building community along the way. Since Circlesongs is an improvised art, there's nothing to prepare, nothing to memorize, you just show up and play.

About the Facilitators:

Bram Kaprow has been Circlesinging since 2019 when he traveled to the Omega Institute to study with Bobby McFerrin and a diverse team of incredible musicians from around the world. Since then he has continued to develop his singing and facilitation through leading groups of his own and studying directly with Circlesongschool faculty including long-time Voicestra members Rhiannon and Judi Vinar, as well as Roger Treece, and Música do Círculo in Brazil.

Tish McAllise Sjoberg
At my Expressive Arts Studio in the North Park area of San Diego I have a private practice where I see individuals, couples and families as well as facilitate workshops and groups to help people take a vacation from their daily life or deal with daily and major life issues like divorce, death, job loss, burnout, illness, trauma, and parenting challenges.

Additional Information:

We will learn to express our unique voices safely through supportive exercises that help us move through creative blocks and performance anxiety, as well as methods to support and facilitate the process for others. We will develop valuable musicianship skills, and play fun games that foster mindfulness, connection, and presence.

Invitational Participation

Circlesongs is a collaborative and participatory activity and you will be invited to play games, connect with others, sing and make music with us.
We treat every activity as an Invitation - participate when it feels good, take a step back to watch if you need a break, or take a seat, close your eyes and listen to experience the music from another perspective.
We encourage our participants to set their own boundaries, honor their "No's" and engage at a pace and level that is appropriate for them.

Media Consent

To help our community grow and get the word out about Circlesongs, we share photos and videos of our events on our website and social media.
