Systemic Design
Details
About this event
Join the SDN Netherlands Chapter for an evening focusing on systemic design. We’ll explore how service design connects with complex systems, and how a systemic mindset can help us design for lasting impact. Four great speakers will share their experiences, followed by discussion and networking.
Speakers
Emma Schalkers - Gemeente Amsterdam
Emma is a service and systemic designer within the Amsterdam municipal government, where she explores complex societal challenges through a systemic lens. With a background in industrial design and experience as a service design consultant, she brings curiosity for the “why” behind design decisions and the systems that shape our lives.
Her work focuses on mapping, questioning, and reimagining urban systems to uncover opportunities for more equitable and inclusive futures. Alongside this job, she works at the TU Delft, teaching master students the design practice at the Strategic Design Program.
Stein Wetzer – Resilient Delta Initiative
Stein Wetzer is a GLUON researcher engaged in transdisciplinary projects aimed at fostering a more regenerative delta. She is part of the Resilient Delta Initiative, a collaboration between Erasmus University Rotterdam, Erasmus MC, and TU Delft.
With a background in industrial design engineering (TU Delft) and seven years of experience as a service designer at studios such as Unplugged and Livework, Stein recently transitioned into academia, where she works to bridge the gap between research and society.
Bram Heijnen - Mindpact
Bram Heijnen, co-founder of Mindpact, is a strategist, architect, and systems thinker. He specialises in behavioural design thinking and systemic transformation, helping organisations unlock creative intelligence to accelerate complex change. With an MA in architecture & design, he combines design thinking, leadership, and behavioural insights to foster new solutions and opportunities across networks and organisations, guiding them through uncertain and rapidly evolving environments.
Hannah Goss - TU Delft
Hannah Goss is a PhD researcher at TU Delft who conceptualizes innovative solutions to drive desired systemic change. Her goal is to enable meaningful transformation in people’s daily lives while advancing broader organizational and societal shifts. She is driven to imagine the future, frame complexity, and design interventions that foster long-term systemic change
