**Rescue Skills, Towing and Bracing Techniques**

**This event is only suitable for people who have already done the Basic skills course.**
The purpose of this session is to make participants familiar with the common rescue skills, both as a rescuer and being rescued. This will increase their confidence and safety if they venture out in more challenging conditions.
The rescue techniques will include Self Rescue (both using a paddle float, and the cowboy self rescue), assisted rescue techniques including The Eskimo Bow rescue, the "Hand of God" rescue, the assisted T-Rescue, the "Scoop" Rescue and the Back-Deck rescue.
Towing will also be incuded, both using a towling and without a towline.
These techniques will take som etime to teach and practice, and all participiants will take turns to put their techniques to the test, so be prepared to get in the water!
Bring suitable clothes for the day, such as a neoprene top or extra outer layers in case you get cold.
If there is any time remaining afterwards we can go over other paddling techniques, such as brace support strokes.
**Please bring sufficient warm clothing for the event, and some extra dry clothes to take in a drybag. (You might take a swim)**

All the normal club rules apply:

1. A**ny Cancellations within 24 hours of the event are non-refundable**
2. The course is free but if you don't own your own kayak it will cost HK$310 to hire equipment to be trained in. You can use PayMe, FPS (+852 91701626). Please send your payment confirmation via whatsapp at 91701626 or via the meetup message board
3. We need forward payment to secure the equipment hire.
4. Bring everything you need for the day - INCLUDING LUNCH, and make sure you have dressed appropriately and have a change of clothes, a hat, sunscreen, wet shoes and drinking water. (NO SINGLE USE WATER BOTTLES, please!)
5. Our instructors and assistant are all volunteers, please treat them with respect.

There are prerequisite for this course:

You must have completed both the Basic Kayak Control Course and the Basic Rescue Course + have done at least 2 sea kayak trips with us.
This is to ensure that time is not wasted during the day.

What to bring:
A pair of swimmers, shorts that will get wet and shoes that will get wet (NOT flip flops, sandals or any other shoe that do not stay on your feet when swimming - they also must cover your toes to protect them from cuts).
A rash shirt of some kind to wear under your buoyancy vest, a sun hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses (with a tie-on strap to stop you losing them if you go for a swim).
An extra outer layer in case you get cold.
Finally, a water bottle with at least 2 litre of water for the day - do NOT bring single-use bottled water - they are destroying our oceans and are simply NOT acceptable.
BRING FOOD TOO! We have a dry bag you can put it in but make sure it is in a Ziplock bag first.
