Amhránaíocht ar an sean-nós

Hi, is mise Eithne. I run courses in The Cobblestone and online in sean-nós singing from time to time.

You may see two courses I offer popping up here on meet up, so to explain, the Amhránaíocht ar an sean-nós course is a sean-nós singing course as Gaeilge, in Irish. And the Traditional Singing course is traditional song in the English language.

The Amhránaíocht ar an sean-nós course for anyone interested in exploring the sean-nós (old-style) tradition of singing in a fun friendly group. Notice of upcoming courses are posted a few weeks in advance. Fáilte roimh chách. Níl sé riachtanch Gaeilge a bheith agat, ach ar ndóigh is cabhair mhór é má tá. Fluency in Irish is not essential although it does help of course. You'll learn as you go! In fact it's a really great way to learn the language. All you need is an interest in learning the songs & in giving it a go!

There is also the option of the Traditional Singing in English course, which deals with English language songs only. I started off giving the sean-nós courses, but am really enjoying how the English courses have been growing and developing also. Again, it's a fun, informal, enjoyable group experience.

I teach the songs by going through the pronunciation, meanings & then the melody and phrasing. You get recordings of the songs and lyrics in a weekly email.
