About us
Each lunch meeting will be at a selected restaurant/venue recommended for their delicious hot dogs. The goal is aimed toward having informal conversations, enjoying good food, and often making new friends. All adults (21 or over), males or females, who share a love of hot dogs prepared in differing ways will be welcomed. Ideally, there would be a balance of people from a wide spectrum of ages. Venues might range, for example, from old-time diners, to family-owned smaller restaurants, and sometimes to a chain restaurant. Meeting times and places will vary according to the membership.

It’s hard to believe, but The Search for the Perfect Hot Dog Meetup Group is turning TWO! And what better way to celebrate than with a good old-fashioned cookout in the park—complete with great hot dogs, tasty sides, cold beverages and, most importantly, great friends! (However, the park does not permit any alcoholic beverages on the premises.)
Join us on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00–3:30 PM at the Southern Community Park Large Picnic Shelter, 1000 Sumac Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
We’ll be firing up the grills and serving up some of the best-known all-beef hot dog brands, along with plenty of buns and toppings. We’ll also have beverages and a delicious assortment of member-provided sides and desserts. Bring your appetite and your love of hot dogs!
Adults of all ages are always welcome. For this birthday event, you may feel free to bring your children, if you wish. Children 12 and under eat free. This is a celebration of our group, our growing friendships, and two years of searching for that elusive perfect hot dog.
Two Ways to Participate
$7 per person: Volunteer to help with the celebration and/or bring a shareable side dish or dessert. Helping roles include set-up, serving, and clean-up. Choose one role and/or contribute a side or dessert when you return your response sheet.
$14 per person: Simply come, eat, socialize, and celebrate with us!
Helpers: Please arrive at 12:00 noon and plan to remain until 4:00 PM to help with set-up and clean-up.
Payment is cash only on the day of the event. You may also pay in advance by Venmo: @clyde-colwell.
Please return your completed response sheet by Sunday, September 13, 2026, so we can plan the food and supplies. Send completed sign up forms to Hotdogsearch@Outlook.com.
