A Mid-May Visit to Merritt's Grill

Hey there, food enthusiasts! Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 16, 2026, as we embark on our next quest in the ongoing Search for the Perfect Hot Dog! We’ll be gathering at the legendary Merritt's Grill, located at 1009 S. Columbia St., Chapel Hill, NC 27514, at 11:15 a.m.
Why the early start, you ask? Well, we want to snag those prime spots while avoiding the lunchtime crowd! There is, however, free parking adjacent to ther restaurant and a larger free lot directly across the highway. While Merritt's is widely celebrated for their mouthwatering BLTs, their hot dogs are a hidden gem you won't want to miss. With a variety of toppings, scrumptious side dishes (potato salad, deviled eggs, etc.), and a range of refreshing beverages (think sweet tea, lemonade, and beer), there’s something for everyone!
