Online Service: Who's In A Family?

I grew up on a kids' book called "Who's In A Family?", and it is one of my favorite examples of acceptance and introduction of non-nuclear family dynamics and models. As someone who grew up in families that were nontraditional in a number of directions, that proved very valuable for me. I had to learn to deal with people challenging and questioning whether my upbringing was valid, and one of the ways I dealt with it was by learning about family structures in other cultures and throughout history.

I'll start by reading the book, and then talk about a few questions:

What defines a family? What is the history of family structures? How can we communicate about, and progress forward with, our own families?

This week's speaker will be Ashe Phoenix.

After the talk, we'll have a group discussion to explore the ideas presented, and to share related thoughts, resources, and personal experiences.
