Granite Mountain

Details

Granite Mountain is a 5,600 ft summit in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. This is a great alternative to Mt. Si and it is just another 15 minutes East on I-90. Overall, its about an hour drive from Seattle. The trail starts in the forest with a gradual climb for the first half mile. The trail then gets steep, follows a series of switchbacks and eventually opens up into a meadow where the views begin. At the top you will find a fire lookout and views galore.

Distance: 8 miles rt.
Elevation gain: 3,800ft.
Rating: strenuous.
Pace: moderate.

Now that the cold, wet weather is with us, everyone should dress in appropriate hiking gear. Expect it to be cold at the top. Please do not wear cotton, jeans or tennis shoes. With that said, for properly equipped hikers, we go rain or shine. Check the "About Us" page for more information on what to bring. Email the organizer if you have questions.

There is a party size limit of 12 in Wilderness areas. Only RSVP YES if you know you are going to attend. If your plans change, update your RSVP to NO as soon a possible to give someone else a chance to go in your place.

Directions. We will meet on the ground floor of the new Issaquah transit center to carpool to the trail head.

Bring some cash to cover the car pool fee and a stop for ice cream after the hike. 10-15 cents per mile is suggested for riders.

Note: A Northwest Forest Pass is required to park at the trail head.
