Skandia Folkdance Society's Virtual & Live Third Friday Nordic dance

Skandia's Third Friday night dance in January will be both live AND virtual! The dance is held at the Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036. So, you can choose to attend in person or via Zoom as the dance instruction and music will be broadcast from the Grange. Singles welcome as well as couples.

Don Meyers and Elaine Mathies will teach Gammalpolska från Föllinge. This is a popular and energetic dance from a small town in northern Sweden with a lovely set of traditional dances. This will be one of the dances taught at Springdans NW this April.

Two bands will entertain us. The Seattle Lilla Lag (not so “lilla” anymore) will get us going! Come and enjoy the music of Eva Odderson, Itsani Murfin Paz, and Alex Geisendorfer. Itsani will also play three tunes on the hardingfele. LAB (Anna Abraham, Leslie Foley, and Bill Boyd) will complete the evening with that big nyckelharpa/keyboard sound. It's going to be a fun evening!

Masks are now optional for all Skandia events. If you are feeling at all unwell or you know that you’ve been in proximity to someone who has COVID, please stay home and take care of yourself.

Note that First and Third Friday dances are paid events ($10 for members, $15 for non-members) although Skandia's policy is that first-timers can attend for free. For now, attending via Zoom continues to be free with donations accepted.
