Free Monday Nordic Dance Classes at Phinney Neighborhood Center
Details
The free Monday beginner Scandinavian dance class continues at University Heights. The class goes from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays at the University Heights Center, near the University of Washington, on November 10, 17, December 1 and 8 (but not Nov 24).
The focus is on beginners; advanced dancers are welcome, as well. Singles and couples are welcome. We change partners frequently, and anybody can do either role. We will cover basic turning skills and variants of waltz, pivot, schottis, hambo, and other lovely couple turning dances, as well as fun mixers. You are welcome to ask to work on specific dances. Bring clean shoes to change into, with smooth soles and low, flat heels for easy turning. If you don’t have dance shoes, we have dance socks to help you turn easily. Show up any time; there’s no need to pre-register. Vaccines and masks are encouraged.
University Heights Center (near the UW) is at 5031 University Way NE, Seattle. UHeights is preparing a new dance room for us. Please go first to room 104, on the south side of the middle floor. If that is not open for dancing, then go to the regular room 209 on the north side of the top floor. Text the number below if you need the code to get in. Send any questions to lisa@hambo.us or (206) 258-2580.
Note: The Seattle Symphony Chorale practices at the same time we do. Because of the size of their group, there are no open parking spots at UHeights or nearby. We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes before 7 pm to find spots.
