The Magic of Automated Accessibility Testing with Marcy Sutton

Details

The Topic:

You could make a big pot of coffee and manually search the rendered source of your webapp for ARIA correctness or sample colors to check color contrast, but that would be pretty ineffective.

Instead, you can win by automating tests for common accessibility problems and catching them before they are deployed into the world.

We'll focus on methods for building accessibility into your development workflow and infrastructure, using a pragmatic approach to software quality to build a more inclusive Web.

About Marcy Sutton:

Marcy Sutton (@marcysutton (https://www.twitter.com/marcysutton)) is a developer at Substantial (http://substantial.com/) and Angular core team member working on Material Design for Angular.

She is a primary contributor to ngAria, the accessibility module, as well as the author of a new accessibility plug-in for Protractor, the end-to-end testing framework.

In her dwindling spare time, she co-organizes the Seattle chapter of Girl Develop It (https://www.girldevelopit.com/chapters/seattle).

She's also in love with riding bicycles and throwing a frisbee for her Muppet-like dog.
