Agentic coding tools let us developers build the tools we've always wanted. Let me tell you about my experience building this tool, yaks, for modelling discovery trees and sharing them with your team. The tool itself might be interesting to you, and so might the way I built it. I've never read the code, it's written in Rust which I've never used before in my life, yet I think it's one of the codebases I'm happiest with. I'd love to share my process with you and hear how it compares to yours!

Matt works as a Staff Software Engineer and Engineering Manager at Mechanical Orchard, where he is building a platform for modernizing mainframes using AI and XP practices. He lives in Nelson, BC.
