The mission of the Seattle area chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is to create a broad interdisciplinary welcoming environment to advance the careers of women in science and technology and promote the participation of girls in the sciences. What happens when a community gains access to real laboratory tools, meaningful mentorship, and room to explore?

Join Seattle AWIS for an engaging introduction to SoundBio Lab, Seattle’s community biomakerspace, where hands-on biology is made accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels.

SoundBio Lab provides affordable, practical pathways into bioscience through courses and workshops, shared BSL-1 laboratory access, community research projects, youth research experiences, K–12 outreach, and scholarships and fee waivers. Its welcoming programs serve students building real-world experience, researchers seeking a collaborative environment, innovators and entrepreneurs, educators, and community members who are simply curious about science.
