Notifications: please turn on the option to receive notifications from the group moderator (me!). Important information about meetups, last minute changes, off meetup gatherings, yearly vote, etc. are communicated through this method.
Attendance Expectations: All new members are required to attend their first meetup within 2 months of joining the group. This group relies on participation of an active membership. In fairness to those on our large wait list, please only join if you can attend. Ongoing members should plan on attending at least 6 out of 12 meetings a year.
Dues: I don't collect dues. However, twice a year I do ask for donations from members. Meetup charges me twice a year, and charges are based on the size of our group. As long as donations cover the cost, then there won't need to be any more formal collection system! I let everyone know ahead of time the collection dates.
• We Pay: There is an option to donate through We Pay. If you choose to donate through this method, be aware that there is a service charge that will be applied to your donation. If this is the easiest method for you--go for it, but I will also take cash or check donations. I keep a dedicated "line item" in my personal bank account and use this money only for Book Group related expenses.
Book Sharing: We use the message boards for information about book swapping.
