What we're about

Welcome! This is a monthly book club devoted to the mystery novel.

We have been meeting since 2009 and have a solid core group. You will find our discussions passionate and opinionated, but never dull!

We read two books a month. You can find the book list and much more at our website: www.seattlemysterylovers.com (https://seattlemysterylovers.com/) Each month's books will also be announced when you receive the Event/RSVP notification. If you can't get to both books, you are welcome to attend having read just one. Most readers get through two books, since mystery fiction readers are voracious readers!

Membership: We keep our membership limited to 50 members. Once we hit that, people requesting membership will be placed on a wait list.

Attendance Expectations: All new members are required to attend their first meetup within 2 months of joining the group. This group relies on participation of an active membership. In fairness to those on our wait list, please only join if you can attend. Ongoing members should plan on attending at least 6 out of 12 meetings a year.

Please only request membership if you are able to attend regularly. If you are interested in mystery fiction but unable to meet our attendance requirements, follow us at our website: www.seattlemysterylovers.com (http://www.seattlemysterylovers.com/)

Notifications: once you are added to the group, please turn on the option to receive notifications from the group moderator (me!). Important information about meetups, last minute changes, off meetup gatherings, yearly vote, etc. are communicated through this method.

Dues: I don't collect dues. However, twice a year I do ask for donations from members. Meetup charges me twice a year, and charges are based on the size of our group. As long as donations cover the cost, then there won't need to be any more formal collection system! I let everyone know ahead of time the collection dates.

• We Pay: There is an option to donate through We Pay. If you choose to donate through this method, be aware that there is a service charge that will be applied to your donation. If this is the easiest method for you--go for it, but I will also take cash or check donations. I keep a dedicated "line item" in my personal bank account and use this money only for Book Group related expenses.

Book Sharing: If you are interesting in borrowing a book from a member, you can either let me know and I'll send out a distribution message, or you can post on the message board. The message board is located in More drop down menu that is located right below the heading that says Seattle Mystery Lover's Book Group. You might be able to get there through this link: https://www.meetup.com/seattlemysterylovers/messages/boards/
