[Rescheduled due to inclement weather] Mt Erie Rock Climbing!

Details

This is a really great place to climb with 429 routes and most are accessible with a 60 meter rope. On a clear day you can see Mt Baker, San Juan Islands and the Olympics off in the distance. Best time to climb here is March-October, it will be cold, so bring extra layers and hand warmers.

My goal is to set up three routes, so we can alternate trying different routes with ease. The pitches we are doing, would be novice to intermediate, no trad climbing. You can only participate in climbing if you have a belay certification card or can show your skill at an optimal level, and have proof you've done several climbs in the past.

Here is a link to one climbing video of an interesting route that I want to do:

The Nose, summit area

Description:
The Nose - 5.8 R 50 Feet Gear to 1"
Climbing The Nose can be done several ways. The usual way is to start up the large crack just to the right side and once at the same level as The Nose traverse left onto a foot ledge and finish the climb up the arete. Another way to do it is to climb the first part of Open Book and traverse right onto The Nose halfway up the dihedral which goes at a 5.8. The hardest way is the 5.10d Nose Directwhich climbs up the overhang and over The Nose from bottom to top. This variation is R rated. Bolted anchors at the top. These climbs are good top ropes.

Visual of routes

After climbing, we can take the option of doing a hike up Mt Erie to get some vert in, and enjoy a decent view of the islands. Sunset is at 4pm and is great to see from this vantage point.

What to bring:
-Rope, harness, belay device, quickdraws, helmet
-Warm clothes, gloves and beanie
-Food for lunch! I will bring a stove and we can BBQ for lunch, and have hot drinks.
-Mug

The only way this will be canceled due to weather is if it is raining. No bad weather, only bad clothing. Don't belay, sign up now!
