Details

Let's get out and do a nearby classic hike with a waterfall, lots of wildflowers, and great views ... πŸŒ²πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈ 🀸🏻 πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸŒ² ... 🌞🌞🌞 ... Our destination will be Bandera Mountain, although we may stop at Little Bandera. The upper trail is very steep, rough and rocky ... this is not a beginner hike. Another option for anyone who wants is to do the first portion of this hike, then turn off on the easier (2400 feet vertical gain total) hike to Mason Lake.

Hike Distance: 8 miles round trip.
Vertical Gain: 3400 feet
Hike Time: ~4.5 hours, including summit stop.

Pace and Hike Mode: Figure 30 minutes a mile ... the route is straightforward and the group does not have to hike together.

Directions, parking, parking pass, meeting:
*** I-90 East to Exit 45, turn left at the top of the ramp, drive to the end of the road.
*** Arrive earlier than the start time. This is a popular hike and you'll likely have to park a ways from the trailhead. Walk to the trailhead and meet at the trailhead.
*** A National Forest Parking Pass is required.

Things to wear and bring: Layered hiking clothes, for hot and for chilly, preferably no cotton, rugged hiking boots, lots of water, lunch or snack, sunscreen, bug spray, and hiking poles.

Waiver and Indemnification: This is not a guided hike, not a led hike, and not a hiking nor route-finding skills lesson. In signing up for this hike, each sign-up-ee certifies that he/she has the required hiking, route-finding, experience and equipment required for a hike as describe. Hiking activities have inherent risk and each sign-up-ee acknowledges that these activities have risk of injury or even death, and signs up and participates entirely and exclusively at his/her own risk.
