Post Goat Yoga Wander/Hike of parts of West Rock Ridge

West rock - main street trailhead

Let's take a small, post-yoga hike on the Regicides Trail and part of West Rock Ridge State Park (about 3 miles +/-) that we will explore together. After goat yoga, we will drive about a mile to a trailhead to begin our hike (see more detailed directions, below). We will wander a dirt road, a country trail and enjoy a vista overlooking Lake Watrous before returning to our cars. There will be some loose soil, likely some mud, some inclines and descents and stumps and roots - so please be sure you are comfortable with that. More about the beautiful and historic trail and park: http://www.ct.gov/deep/lib/deep/stateparks/maps/WestRockParkmap.pdf ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS: From Goat yoga on Calamus Road: Continue past the goat yoga on Calamus Meadow Road to Main Street. Turn left onto Main Street and follow it for just over 2 miles. You will come to a sharp left in the road, about 1000 feet better main street. Parking area is on the right, it is a sub trailhead for West Rock Ridge park. Park there. TO BRING: Water (2 bottles), snacks for time at the overlook (we like snacks, snacks are good!) and a pack to keep your hands free.A great attitude and sense of humor. Please consider reviewing the 10 essentials, you won't regret having your pack properly prepared: https://www.cleverhiker.com/blog/ten-things-you-should-bring-on-every-day-hike A COMPASS AND A MAP ARE ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA: http://www.ct.gov/deep/lib/deep/stateparks/maps/WestRockParkmap.pdf TO WEAR: Hiking boots (mandatory). Wicking clothing since we will heat up and cool down as we ascend and descend on trail. Bring a poncho or water resistant cover if there is threat of rain. AFTER-HIKE: You bet - but open to preferences or suggestions! Well, we've done yoga with goats - twice! It's high time we have some cocktails with whales. I am merely announcing/tagging on to an organized event at the Mystic Aquarium - organized by Ocean Blue Catering. When I heard the idea, I simply could NOT resist. I've already gotten my ticket. And I would bet the tickets will go fast - so here's what to do. Show up (preferably early-ish) and hang out, having a whale of a good time with friends. (Sorry, I couldn't resist the pun). == Legal Statement === By clicking on "Count Me In" or "Yes" for this event you agree, warrant, and covenant as follows: In consideration for accepting this entry, I, the registrant, intending to be legally bound, hereby, for myself, my heirs, my executors and administrators, do waive and release any and all rights for damages I may have against any parties or persons connected with the South Eastern CT Adventures Meetup group for and related to the above listed event. CT Trails Day - Meet and Greet, Hike, Bonfire and Potluck!

Rockland Preserve Trail Head

It's time once again for a SECTA Meet-and-Greet! What better way to arrange a meet-and-greet than starting with a gentler HIKE (about 5 miles), followed by a BONFIRE and POTLUCK at an Organizer's (Carolyn's) house? We'll first meet at the Rockland Preserve (http://www.madisonct.org/520/Rockland-Preserve) for a gentle(r) and fun hike about the Preserve, then briefly on parts of the Lone Pine and the New England Trail. There are sincere ups and downs, but our pace will be slower than usual because your leader needs to simmer down a bit for this wander. To Wear: Hiking Boots Mandatory! Lightweight wicking layers strongly suggested - to doff and don as we heat up and cool down. We will have a number of stream crossings, so cotton (jeans) are a NO NO. If you have questions, please feel free to message me. PLEASE be sure you have Micro-spikes with you at the trail head. To Bring: At least 2 bottles of water. Snacks - we like snacks. A pack to carry and keep your hands free. Sunscreen and Bug Repellant (bugs out and ticks, year-round - nasty buggers). Bring Micro-spikes to the trail head. Great attitude mandatory. A copy of the map is also always a good idea: https://www.madisonct.org/DocumentCenter/View/727/Rockland-2016?bidId= Then, we'll head back to the Organizer's house (quite near the trail - address to be provided to attendees in a separate email) for a Bonfire and Potluck Meet-and-Greet. If you can't make the hike, come to the Potluck anyway! Bring a dish to share, ideas for future SECTA outings, a camp chair and some cozies for hanging out. PLEASE USE THE CONVERSATION FEATURE BELOW TO DISCUSS WHAT YOU'D LIKE TO BRING TO THE POTLUCK. Here comes the legal stuff: == Legal Statement === By clicking on "Count Me In" or "Yes" for this event you agree, warrant, and covenant as follows: In consideration for accepting this entry, I, the registrant, intending to be legally bound, hereby, for myself, my heirs, my executors and administrators, do waive and release any and all rights for damages I may have against any parties or persons connected with the South Eastern CT Adventures Meetup group for and related to the above listed event.
