Effortless Mindfulness?

Details

DETAILS: This is meeting #18 of the Secular Buddhist / Meditation Meetup group where we’ve been discussing meditation and secular takes on Buddhist philosophy.

In this meeting, we will be having an open discussion about the concepts in the book “The Way of Effortless Mindfulness” by Loch Kelly. In the book Loch offers a differentiated method of meditation from traditional concentration exercises and sitting practice. Drawing from neuroscience, psychology, and Buddhism, the book is a practical guide to what he calls the next stage in the ongoing mindfulness movement: effortless mindfulness.

Loch is an author, meditation teacher and psychotherapist who has collaborated with neuroscientists at Yale, UPenn, and NYU to study how awareness training can enhance compassion and well-being.

At the meetup we will use the book as a jumping-off spot for discussion about awareness and mindfulness meditation.

If you haven't read the book, here are my book highlights for reference to review before the meeting. https://lweeks.notion.site/The-Way-of-Effortless-Mindfulness-cd6302d5548e4697bf36b7bf751939ee
