As our home planet Earth daily spins about tilted axis, and as our home planet Earth annually spins around the Sun, let us honor this celestial occurrence with a hike fit for both 2 and 4 legged critters. The Summer Solstice happens on Sunday June 21, we will do this on a quiet weekday. Flying J is a relatively easy Jefferson County Open Space park not far from Conifer. A loop around the park via Shadow Pines Trail is about 3 miles, having around 350 feet of elevation climbing. This is an easy hike, done in around 2 hours. Dogs on leash are allowed, so bring Fido as you like.

A link to the park is below. See the map pin for the trailhead location. This link also has a park map page. If you care to join, meet in the main parking lot at the designated time. The hike will go a counter clockwise direction on Shadow Pines. Have good shoes, water, and a few snacks along.

The attendance guests number will be kept within park regulations.

Optionally, after the hike, refresh with a Qdoba burrito in the nearby Aspen Park shopping center.
