The Identity You've Outgrown: Letting Go of Who You Used to Be
Details
At some point, the version of you that kept you safe stopped fitting.
Maybe it was the "responsible one," the "low-maintenance" one, the one who never asked for too much. Maybe it was an identity built around a role, a relationship, a chapter of your life that's already over. You know it's over. But you're still carrying it.
Letting go of a past identity isn't weakness. It's one of the most courageous things a person can do — because it means admitting that who you were is no longer who you are. And that the next version of you hasn't fully arrived yet.
That in-between space? It's uncomfortable. And it's also where real transformation lives.
In this session, we're going to look honestly at the identities you're still holding onto — not to shame them, but to understand what they gave you, what they cost you, and what becoming someone new is actually asking of you.
This is the second session in Permission to Change: A Series on Identity & Becoming — a 4-part series for deep thinkers who are ready to stop waiting and start becoming.
Each session stands alone, so jump in wherever feels most relevant.
Your unexpressed self is waiting. It's time to let it speak.

### ✍️ What we'll explore together:
- What old identities you're still carrying — and why letting go feels like losing yourself
- The beliefs you formed about who you are that no longer reflect who you're becoming
- What the next version of you actually needs that the old version was afraid to ask for
### What we'll do:
-
Guided Journaling to identify the identities you've outgrown and what's making them hard to release
-
Guided Visualization to experience the shift.
-
Real Conversation about the old roles and labels we're each ready to stop performing
### Why it matters:
Most of us don't realize how much of our identity was built for survival, not self-expression. The "good one," the "strong one," the one who holds it all together — these roles served a purpose. But at some point they stop being who you are and start being what you perform.
This session is about telling the truth about which identities are still yours — and which ones you're ready to put down.
### This is for you if:
- You feel like you've changed but aren't sure who you're becoming yet
- You're still playing roles that no longer reflect who you really are
- You know there's a version of you trying to emerge but you keep pushing it back down
- You're ready to grieve the old self a little — and make room for what's next
### This isn't for you if:
- You're not ready to question the identity you've built
- You want someone to tell you who to be next
- You're still convinced that who you've been is who you have to stay
Come live if you can — this is where the real work of becoming starts. This might be the session where you finally realize: you're not losing yourself in change. You're finding out who you actually are.
