The Fear of Being Selfish & What It's Costing You
Details
Most of us were taught that putting others first is what makes us good. So we learned to scan the room before we scan ourselves — to notice what's needed before we notice what we need.
Over time, this becomes invisible.
You stop registering it as a choice.
It just feels like who you are.
This session looks directly at the belief underneath that pattern: that wanting something for yourself is selfish, and being selfish makes you unlovable. We'll trace where that belief came from, what it's protected you from, and what it's quietly cost you.
This isn't just insight — it's an embodiment series. We don't just talk about what's been blocking you. We practice being without it, live, in the room.
What you'll walk away with:
- Journaling prompts to trace the guilt around prioritizing yourself back to its root
- A nervous system regulation practice you can return to anytime you lose your center, to bring yourself back to safety
- A felt experience of choosing yourself — once your body knows what it feels like, it's easier to find your way back to it
- New perspective from the group, real support, and the reminder that you're not alone in this
What we'll do:
Guided journaling to trace the belief to its root, small group conversation for shared perspective, and an embodiment practice to help you feel what choosing yourself actually feels like in your body.
Why this matters:
Selfish isn't a fact about you — it's a definition you inherited. As long as it stays unexamined, it will keep deciding what you allow yourself to want. This session is where that definition gets questioned, on purpose, with support.
This is for you if:
- You're the one people rely on, and you're quietly worn down by it
- You already sense you people-please, but haven't looked at why
- You're ready to want something without needing to justify it
This isn't for you if:
- You're looking for permission to abandon the people you love — this isn't that
- You'd rather stay comfortable than get honest
One session is enough to shift your perception of reality. Come with an open mind and the intention to change.
Come if you've ever thought: "Why does taking care of myself feel like I'm doing something wrong?"
Cameras on is requested to hold the intimacy of this space.
