Fear of Abandonment: Why You Pull Away
Details
Most of us don't consciously choose to sabotage the things that matter to us. We just find reasons to pull away right when something starts to feel real — a relationship, an opportunity, a version of ourselves we're not used to yet.
Underneath that pattern is often the same fear: if I let this get close, it will eventually leave.
So some part of you decides to leave first. To create the distance before it's created for you.
This session looks directly at that fear and the self-sabotage it drives — the excuses, the sudden doubt, the urge to disappear right when things are going well. We'll trace where that pattern started, what it's protected you from, and what it's actually costing you.
This isn't just insight — it's an embodiment series. We don't just talk about what's been blocking you. We practice being without it, live, in the room.
What you'll walk away with:
- Journaling prompts to trace the fear driving your self-sabotage back to its root
- A nervous system regulation practice you can return to anytime you feel the urge to pull away, to bring yourself back to safety
- A felt experience of staying present instead of leaving first — once your body knows what it feels like, it's easier to find your way back to it
- New perspective from the group, real support, and the reminder that you're not alone in this
What we'll do:
Guided journaling to trace the pattern to its root, small group conversation for shared perspective, and an embodiment practice to help you feel what it's like to stay grounded when the instinct to pull away shows up.
Why this matters:
Self-sabotage rarely looks like self-sabotage while it's happening — it looks like a good reason. This session is about catching the pattern before it runs the show again, so you can choose differently the next time it shows up.
This is for you if:
- You notice yourself pulling back right when things start going well
- You've sabotaged relationships, jobs, or plans without fully understanding why
- You're ready to catch the pattern before it catches you
This isn't for you if:
- You're looking to diagnose someone else's behavior rather than look at your own
- You'd rather avoid the discomfort than sit with it
One session is enough to shift your perception of reality. Come with an open mind and the intention to change.
Come if you've ever thought: "Why do I ruin things right when they start going well?"
Cameras on is requested to hold the intimacy of this space.
