What we’re about

Welcome to the Seoul Buddhist Seon Meditation Meetup Group!

We are a diverse and welcoming group based in central Seoul, gathering regularly to explore Seon meditation, Buddhist teachings, and mindful living in daily life.

Our practice is rooted in the Weiyang lineage of Chinese Seon (Chan) Buddhism β€” the oldest among the Five Houses of Chan β€” which has been thoughtfully revitalized and developed in the United States in recent years. Today, this tradition is actively practiced and taught across both the U.S. and Korea, integrating ancient wisdom with the needs of modern life.

πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ What We Do:
Seon meditation practice
Dharma talks (in English and Korean) on Buddhist wisdom and daily challenges
Prostration (bowing) and chanting sessions (including Pure Land recitation)
Urban walks through downtown Seoul
Tea and community gatherings

πŸ—£ All programs are bilingual (Korean & English), open to beginners and experienced meditators alike, and guided by monastics and trained lay teachers. Our sessions are free of charge with optional donations.

🧑 Why Join Us?
To slow down, reconnect with your inner clarity, and meet sincere practitioners from around the world β€” right in the heart of Seoul.
Our main gathering space is Jeweled Flower Temple (Bohwa Seonwon), located across from Jogyesa Temple in Jongno District.

Come walk, sit, and practice with us β€” one breath, one step at a time.
