What we’re about
Pro bono publico (English: for the public good; usually shortened to pro bono) is a Latin phrase for professional work undertaken voluntarily without payment as a public service, especially for people on low income.
Unlike traditional volunteerism, pro bono service uses specific talents/skills to provide services to the public who are unable to afford them. This idea is common in the legal profession such as lawyers, doctors and teachers.
As a member of a profession, they denote a portion of their time to serve the public interest. Pro Bono Publico is widely adopted in the non-profitable organizations such as NGO to satisfy the needs of the underprivileged people. We have adopted this motivation and would like to share our skills to people who are unable to afford the service. We have adopted this idea and would like to practice them in real life.
Everyone has got talent, just like the title of the well-known TV show program, and we welcome people who would like to share it with others!
Since it is difficult to know each other’s talents and how best to share them, we will start off by solely organizing Free English/Chinese classes for underprivileged and handicapped children.
After we get to know each other and get to know what we can offer, we will gradually widen our pro bono activities to include a wide variety of other talents. It could be violin, creative art or even magic classes on a regular or special event basis. We are hoping that this group will be the groundwork for, and eventually grow into a nonprofit organization.
In order to make this happen, we need passionate volunteers who are willing to donate their time and share their talents for people who are in need. This group is open to anyone who has a desire to make a difference in other people’s lives.
We are very passionate about getting the youth in our community more involved with volunteer opportunities. If you would like to participate in our pro bono activities, join us and meet like-minded individuals! Our contribution can make the world and our society a better place to live.
