Moraksan Outdoor Bouldering
Details
⚠️ Important Disclaimers
- Like any activity outdoors, this event is subject to cancellation up until the morning of the event due to weather conditions.
- While we are going to use every available safety measure, outdoor bouldering is BY DEFINITION an extreme sport, so risk of serious injuries still exists.
📍 Event Details
For our second event, we are going to go to the most popular crag in the Seoul area: Moraksan (모락산). This crag is very popular because it has a huge variety of boulders and problems in a relatively small area. Whatever your preferred style of climbing is, there is probably something for you to work on. In addition, there is a much more uniform spread of grades, so it's easier to get the satisfaction of sending something rather than struggling for 8 hours and just being sad 😢
For this crag, the approach is still fairly easy but requires a bit longer hike (10-15 minutes of a hiking trail).
✅ Participation Requirements
- You MUST be able to at least climb red-tape level at The Climb gyms. This is done to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
- To be allowed to spot, you must either have climbed with us before, or coordinate a spotting safety instruction session with me prior to the event
- Priority to participate in the event is given to regular members of SBC. Basically, if we know who you are and have seen you before, you are welcome to join 🙂

🎒 What to Bring
- Climbing shoes (bring ones that are both comfortable and you don't mind losing rubber on, because granite hurts your shoes as much as it does your skin)
- Chalk
- Climbing tape (real rock cuts skin, very easily, it's not plastic anymore)
- Suitable clothing
- Shoes for a mild 15 minute hike to the crag
- Water, snacks, food - there is a convenience store at the start of the approach so you could buy those there
- Hat/sunglasses
- Flip flops/sandals (highly recommended) for when you aren't climbing at the crag. You don't want to get dirt on your climbing shoes, you don't want to walk barefoot, and putting on your hiking shoes every time is a pain
- Bug spray (highly recommended) - it's early in the season, but you really don't want to get distracted by a mosquito deciding to land on your ear as you are doing the crux move for your project
- Power bank (recommended)
- Tripod if you want to record your sends 🙂
