About us

Sequoia Social Club is a beginner friendly outdoor skills club.
Like Girls Scouts, but for grown-ups

We organize casual, educational gatherings for Women / WTFNB who want to enjoy the outdoors but don’t know where to start.

Through beginner-friendly hikes, camping trips, and in-city classes, we help people build practical outdoor skills in a low-pressure, supportive environment. We focus on learning by doing, asking questions and helping people find a version of the outdoors that works for them.

Who this group is for people who are:

  • New-ish to the PNW or the outdoors and looking for an entry point to start exploring nature
  • Outdoor-curious but intimidated by hiking, camping, or outdoor culture
  • Trying to build outdoor skills without pressure, gatekeeping, or expensive gear
  • Looking for supportive people to learn and grow alongside

We are welcoming to people of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, abilities, religions, and experience levels.

Our events prioritize learning, questions, and enjoying the experience over speed, mileage, or performance.

While our events are geared toward beginners, all experience levels are welcome so long as they’re aligned with the spirit of the group.

Who this group is not for

  • People looking for a dating meetup or pickup scene
  • Folks expecting fast-paced or advanced-level outings
  • Competitive or exclusionary outdoor culture
  • People unwilling to respect differing comfort levels, identities, or experience levels
  • Folks more interested in proving themselves than helping create a welcoming experience for beginners

This group exists to help people feel more comfortable, capable, and welcomed outdoors.
Kindness, curiosity, patience, and snacks go a long way around here.

The outdoors are calling. You'll be ready.
