Serverless and Function as a Service (FaaS) technology can seem appealing, but deploying and managing a multi-stage environment across several accounts can be a challenge. In this talk, we will review some common pitfalls encountered when first entering the Serverless space, and discuss how we at Zendesk have set ourselves up for success with a multi-account Serverless CI/CD process, which supports smooth, effortless deployments.

The Serverless First Mindset, by Jared Short

Approaching problems with a serverless first mindset means rethinking, re-architecting, and rethinking again. We'll talk about interesting problems and case studies that may come up in serverless architectures and how we can approach them from a new angle to bring them into the age of serverless computing.

Speaker bios:

Heriberto Madrigal is a Senior IT Engineering Manager at Zendesk, a Cloud-based help desk solution used by more than 200,000 organizations worldwide. At the start of his career as a SuiteScript software engineer, he led two NetSuite implementations, became ITIL Certified, and assisted in the implementation of Change Management processes at TransUnion. An enthusiast of Serverless technology for the past five years, he has developed several private Serverless applications. He currently manages an engineering team that has implemented a production Serverless technology stack to develop internal applications and integrations with various best-in-class SaaS systems, such as Workday, Netsuite, Zuora, and Zendesk
