AGENDA
5:00 pm - Arrive & settle in
5:15 pm - Speaker - Daniela Miao
For many companies, product feature velocity is the number 1 focus while observability takes a backseat. Developers are often in a time crunch to ship, leaving few cycles for instrumentation. In this talk, we go over a pragmatic approach to gain visibility into your stack, while staying clear of "observability black holes" - areas where too much time can be spent. Using a real world application, we study all 3 observability pillars: metrics, logging, tracing, and walk through their respective shortcomings. Finally, we discuss how to utilize open-source, vendor-neutral frameworks to lay a solid technical foundation while leaving flexibility for future iterations.

6:00 pm - Network and Job Board
