1. Social first - The purpose of every event is connection, friendship and community.
2. Inclusive always - Every part of LGBTQ is welcome. Arguments about who belongs are not.
3. Low drama - People can disagree with each other. They cannot use the group as a battleground for political, ideological or personal campaigns.

## Welcome to Setúbal LGBTQ

Setúbal LGBTQ was created to help LGBTQ people in Setúbal build genuine social connections in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The main purpose of the group is simple: to bring people together, help people meet new friends, reduce isolation, and build a sense of community through social activities.

We value conversation, friendship, inclusion, mutual respect, and creating opportunities for people of different backgrounds to get to know one another.

Many people who join are new to the area, looking to expand their social circle, or simply looking for a relaxed and welcoming place where they can feel comfortable being themselves.

## What we believe

We believe that our community is strongest when people of different ages, nationalities, identities, backgrounds, experiences and opinions can meet together respectfully.

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

We welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and other LGBTQ people, as well as supportive allies who share these values.

## What the group is not

This group is not:

• A political organisation.
• A campaigning organisation.
• A lobbying group.
• A platform for promoting political parties or political ideologies.
• A venue for discrimination against any part of the LGBTQ community.
• Directly affiliated with Qardume Coletivo, Setúbal Pride (Facebook), Queer Lisbon (Meetup). Although we do sometimes work with these groups and others.
• A business networking group.

Members are free to hold a wide range of personal views, but the group itself does not endorse political movements, parties or ideological campaigns.

## Events on Meetup

Our emphasis is on social interaction and community building.

While events may vary in size and format, the goal remains the same: creating opportunities for meaningful connection.

The group prioritises environments where people can talk, listen, meet new people and build friendships.

## Expectations of members

We ask members to:

• Treat others respectfully.
• Be welcoming to newcomers.
• Respect differences of opinion.
• Avoid personal attacks and harassment.
• Help create a positive atmosphere.
• Support the inclusive nature of the group.

Discrimination or hostility towards any member or group within the LGBTQ community is not consistent with the values of the group.

## A final note

Setúbal LGBTQ was founded as a community-building initiative first and foremost.
Our aim is not to agree on everything. Our aim is to create a space where people can meet, connect and enjoy one another's company despite their differences.

Friendship comes before politics. Community comes before division.

Aqui, acreditamos que cada pessoa merece um espaço onde possa ser quem é, sem medo, sem filtros e com orgulho. O Setúbal LGBTQ é um grupo LGBTQ inclusivo que recebe de braços abertos tanto portugueses como imigrantes que se identificam com a comunidade LGBTQ.
Os nossos encontros sociais acontecem normalmente na 2a e 4a, terça-feira de cada mês. São momentos para conversar, rir, partilhar histórias de vida e criar novas amizades na vibrante cidade de Setúbal.
O nosso espírito vai além desses encontros.
Organizamos eventos especiais ao longo do ano para fortalecer os laços da comunidade e celebrar a diversidade que nos torna únicos. Por isso, queremos que você acompanhe as nossas atualizações — não queremos que perca nada.
O nosso grupo é público, o que significa que qualquer pessoa pode ver quem participa, o que partilhamos e os eventos que organizamos.
