Build A Native Mobile App in Visual Studio Using Web Technologies

Details

Are you already a web developer and want to create a mobile application? Then come learn all about the Ionic mobile framework and how to use it with the Visual Studio 2015 Tooling For Apache Cordova. With technologies that we already know and love like Html 5, Javascript, CSS 3, we can easily create a mobile application that targets Android, iOS, and Windows 10 device all from within Visual Studio. You are able to deploy to Android, iOS, and Windows devices from Visual Studio and debug the code that is on running on the devices.

After we examine the tooling, we will look at the Ionic Framework to make our applications look, feel and perform like a native application without you having to do anything special. Ionic takes care of all of the hard work of making it look right on the mobile devices so that you can focus on your application.

By the end of this talk, you will be ready to deliver mobile applications using Ionic and Visual Studio 2015. You will understand the the features of the Visual Studio Apache Cordova Tooling, how to get it setup, and then using the Ionic Framework for the UI to have a fully working sample application that is ready to release in the app store.

Justin James is a programmer, speaker and drummer. He works in Chandler, Arizona for Intel but this talk, its content, and opinions are his own. He runs the local Ionic-az meetup and helps to co-organize the Phoenix Version Control meetup.
