MAIN TALK
Title: Recomposability and Explainability of Deep Learning Systems
Speaker: Keen Browne (Bonsai (http://bonsai.ai/))
Abstract: Bonsai is a software development platform that enables developers to program AI at a higher level of abstraction. In this talk, Keen Browne will explain how Bonsai's approach to building intelligent systems tackles the core concerns around explainability with deep learning systems. Keen will demonstrate how Bonsai's platform makes AI recomposable and explainabile through a new programming construct Bonsai calls “concepts”.
Bio: Keen Browne is the co-founder and Head of Product at Bonsai. Keen has an extensive background with developer tools having worked for 4 years in the developer division at Microsoft on technologies like .NET and Visual Studio. Prior to founding Bonsai, Keen founded ECitySky Ltd, a real time social games platform in Beijing, China where he lived for 7 years.
LIGHTNING TALK
Title: Clausewitz was a Data Scientist
Speaker: Sarah Catanzaro (Canvas Ventures (http://www.canvas.vc/))
Abstract:
Although investors have been funding machine intelligence startups at a rapid pace, the rate of adoption of machine and deep learning by more traditional enterprises is much slower. Often, organizations acquire machine learning resources and/or hire developers without well-defined strategic objectives. To successfully leverage machine intelligence, companies must specify and implement a clear data strategy. In this talk, Sarah will present a framework for data strategy modeled on classic military theory. She will describe how this framework was put to action at Mattermark and other startups.
Bio:
Sarah is an Investment Associate at Canvas Ventures, where she focuses on analytics, data infrastructure, and machine intelligence.
Sarah has several years of experience in developing data acquisition strategies and leading machine and deep learning-enabled product development at organizations of various sizes. Most recently, she led the data team at Mattermark to collect and organize information on over one million private companies. Previously, she implemented analytics solutions for municipal and federal agencies as a consultant at Palantir and as an analyst at Cyveillance. She also led projects on adversary behavioral modeling and Somali pirate network analysis as a program manager at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies.
Sarah earned a B.A. in International Security Studies from Stanford University.
