Webinar: Social Determinants for Promoting Population Health

Details

Population health, a field focused on analyzing the health outcomes of large groups of people, is becoming an increasingly effective way to manage medical problems on a vast scale. The results from population health studies has played an essential role in the design and implementation of community-wide health initiatives executed to promote good health practices. Traditionally, researchers used large sets of de-identified data and were able to derive insights and make recommendations for the entire population of members for the regional provider or payer. In recent years, however, there has been an increasing demand to apply the same methodologies for small cohorts of patients or even individuals. Today, in the era of global personalization, there is a push to calculate individual risk scores and prescribe a personal clinical program for each member separately.

The types of data utilized in population health analysis are continually evolving and include everything from clinical data to claims to widely-completed surveys, public health stats and even the recently buzzed Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). This wide array of information allows healthcare professionals and policymakers to determine how the population of members are managing their chronic health problems and diseases. In order to be able to deliver an individual risk score or alert of the disease progression for a specific member of the population, a researcher will have to resolve the result on the personal level - meaning the result of the study will be re-identified.

While the sources and kinds of population data are prevalent, plenty of debate remains among healthcare providers, government and non-governmental organizations, and healthcare-related companies as to how the data should be utilized adequately in the public sector without disrupting patient confidentiality.

We invite you to take an active role in an interactive discussion on how to bring together the disparate types of data reliably and consistently with panelists representing all players of the healthcare ecosystem.
