Please join San Francisco Bay Area Journalists (http://meetup.com/journalism) this Thursday for an evening with independent documentary filmmaker Erin Palmquist (http://www.erinpalmquist.com/) -- and learn what you need know to start your own productions.
Erin is a former SFBAJ co-organizer who has worked on productions for PBS, Lucasfilm and National Geographic Explorer. Erin has graciously agreed to show clips from her work and answer any questions you may have.

She will discuss three current indie projects:
· From Bagdad to The Bay (http://www.frombaghdadtothebay.com/): Erin is directing this full-length documentary that follows the resettlement process of an audacious Iraqi refugee and former translator for the US military. Accused of being a double agent, tortured by the US military, and ostracized from his family and country, Ghazwan Alsharif struggles to rebuild his life in the San Francisco Bay Area while coming out as a gay man.
· 5 Blocks (http://www.5blocksproject.com/): Erin is the Director of Photography for this film about a poor and marginalized San Francisco neighborhood struggling to transform itself to a vibrant neighborhood filled with hope.
· Oakland Originals (http://oaklandoriginals.com/): Erin is the Director of Photography and Producer for this series of short documentaries about the artists, thinkers, and do-ers who make Oakland such a vibrant place.
When: 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 26
Where: Sears Fine Foods. A half-block from Union Square.
Transportation: Take BART/Muni to Powell Street. Park cars and bikes at the Union Square or Sutter-Stockton garages.
