Fabien Potencier will be speaking on PHP 7

Fabien Pontencier is the founder of the Symfony framework. The Symfony framework has recently surpassed 500 million total downloads. However this talk will not be about Symfony - his topic is PHP 7 and should be of interest to all PHP developers.

SF PHP meetup group is back and will be holding monthly events. Please contact us if you are interested in speaking on any aspect of PHP for future events.

The venue for this meetup is limited in its capacity to 60 people. We have just upped the attendee limit because historically many people who sign up do not show up. Even with this we still expect to have a waiting list. We are using the rsvp yes count for those who will be attending in person. So please, if you sign up and then cannot attend in-person, please change your rsvp to maybe or no to allow someone who would like to attend in person to be able to. You will still be able to dial-in to the meeting regardless of your rsvp status.

Getting There

This meetup will take place at BabyCenter at 163 Freelon St in San Francisco. Freelon St is an alley off 4th Street near Brannan Street in SoMa. BabyCenter is located near the end of the alley, on the left.

Parking is limited so using public transit or carpooling is encouraged. There are multiple SF MUNI stops nearby, including the 30 and the 45 at 5th & Brannan. The closest BART stop is Powell (15 min walk down 4th). The SF Caltrain station is also very close.

If you will be driving, there is paid street & lot parking nearby.

A Brief Statement of Purpose for SF PHP

The purpose of SF PHP is to present public events that are beneficial to the PHP community and to help nurture the growth of the community through education, networking, mentoring, and friendship. SF PHP meetups are a 'safe space' or to put it another way a 'flame free' zone. In order to grow the community in a responsible way we actively encourage diversity and respect.

Although we are just one meetup group in one city we have the opportunity to present a positive and energetic vision of what can be built with PHP now, and where PHP is going. By educating in current techniques and practices, we also inspire people to create new solutions. By bringing developers together in person, we make it easier for new connections to be made. All of this in turn brings renewed energy and people to the language, our projects, and frameworks.
