Monitoring Weave Cloud With Prometheus

Lessons from operating a Kubernetes-based service running on AWS

Weave Cloud is a SaaS built from dozens of cooperating microservices, orchestrated by Kubernetes and running on AWS. In this talk we explain how we monitor this system with Prometheus. What are good metrics to collect, and why? How does one construct useful dashboards? What makes a good alert? Finally, we provide an update on Weave Cortex, our highly available, horizontally scalable Prometheus-aaS first presented at the Inaugural SF Prometheus Meetup.
