Changing City: The Castro, Old and New, with Art Show

Details

We'll be inviting people from the Live in the Castro (http://www.castrocbd.org/index.php/visit-the-castro/live-in-the-castro-events) event to join us in looking at the life of this neighborhood now and the memories of what it was. The meetup will end with refreshments and a show-and-tell at Spark Arts Gallery. You can add your sketch to the display in the gallery.

1:00 Start in the Jane Warner Plaza. After a short introduction we'll spread out to sketch nearby street life, shops, bars, houses and whatever else catches your eye.

3:00 We'll meet up at Spark Arts Gallery (on 18th Street, next to Mollie Stone's, between Collingwood and Diamond) for a chance to show our sketches and talk about what we were seeing and thinking. There will be drinks and snacks.

On display in the gallery will be watercolors about the changing city by me (Laurie Wigham (http://www.sparkarts.com/april-2016-laurie-wigham/), SF Sketchers organizer) and paintings of the Castro in the 70s and 80s by Ramon Pablo Vidali.

You can hang your sketch in this show! We'll dedicate one wall to sketches of the Castro now. (You can offer it for sale if you wish.) If you have a sketch you've done earlier, you are welcome to bring that too.

Whether or not you have a piece in the show, you are invited to attend the official show reception on the night of Thursday April 7th, 6-8:30. Bring friends and family to show them your piece too.
