Grace Cathedral
Details
After the SantaCon event we will be in need of some peace and serenity. Grace Cathedral is an international pilgrimage center that welcomes people of all faiths, and a San Francisco landmark. Sketch the stained glass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stained_glass) windows, mosaics by De Rosen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Henryk_De_Rosen), a replica of Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise, Keith Haring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Haring)'s AIDS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIDS) Chapel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapel) altar piece (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altarpiece), and two labyrinths. It has made appearances in the work of Mark Twain, Alfred Hitchcock and Armistad Maupin.
"Jacob's Dream: A Luminous Path" a new work by 2016 Artists in Residence Benamin Bergery and Jim Campbell, will be on display. "The pathway will be made of rungs of LED lights, rising in the north aisle like a ladder or stairway, lifting up some 50 feet as it moves toward the altar. The LED rungs will act as a a fragmented screen for moving images of figures going up and down."
12:30 Meet in the lobby, just inside the front doors. Text Laurie (415) 533-9983 if you can't find us.
2:30 Meet at the Pete's Coffee kiosk in the lower level to share sketches and chat. If it's not raining we can take our coffee outside and sit in the sheltered courtyard.

GETTING THERE
Transit:The #1 and 27 buses go very close, and there are several cable car lines in this area.
Car: Parking is difficult but probably not impossible.
Bicycling is only an option for the strong of leg: these hills are steep.
