Nature Journaling @ Oak Woodlands Natural Area, Golden Gate Park

Details
Did you know that San Francisco still has oak trees that were here before Golden Gate Park even existed—and possibly even before Europeans showed up? 🤯
The Oak Woodlands in the park’s northeast corner are home to some of these coast live oaks, silent witnesses to centuries of fog, wildlife, and human history. This month, we’ll surround ourselves with these elders of the park. Come ready to sketch, take notes, and capture your curiosity about these amazing trees in your journal.
Also, if you joined our previous meetup you may be excited about the MANY lichens in this part of the grove.
We invite you to slow down, notice more, and invite a sense of awe, calm, and wonder into your day.
Event Details
🕐 Time: 1pm to 4pm
📍 Location: Oak Woodlands Natural Area, Golden Gate Park (largely wheelchair accessible)
📍 Meeting Point: Walk up the hill from Arguello Blvd and Fulton St and meet up next to BAYS Breast Cancer Memorial Garden. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kExVQg6zu31wa1dg7
🖊️ What to Bring: A journal or sketchbook, writing and drawing/coloring supplies. Optional: binoculars, a lightweight stool, and your curiosity!
🧻 Nearest restrooms are next to the Conservatory of flowers (about a 5 minute walk from where we will be)
🚙 Parking: This is definitely a tricky spot for parking especially given the Dahlia festival in that area on that day. Using public transport might be your best bet. If you choose to drive, there is a paid parking lot nearby - "Impark - St Mary's Parking - Lot #152" or you may want to drive along the neighboring streets to find street parking.
💰Cost: It's a free event, but we encourage 20$ donations to Wild Wonder Foundation https://www.wildwonder.org/donate
