Monthly Video Meetup

Details

🕕⏰ As always, note the time! Going for 6pm consistently these days! Doors/pizza will open up right around 6, and we'll shoot to start the talks by 6:30.

It's time for the post-NAB meetup! Hope everyone had fun walking the show floor and seeing the creative (and not-so-creative) ways people shoved "AI" into their booth copy.

2024 has been a bit of a tough scene for the meetup: after 10 years of never missing a month, we had to skip a couple, but this month is back to quintessential SF Video community that everyone knows and loves. I reached out to a bunch of speakers all month and now we've actually got a few months of great content, but no one could take April for various reasons...

And then Walker stepped up to the plate. He sent me a screenshot of a video-eng iceberg last year and I pestered him about it so hard that I was hesitant to ask him this month, but the man is answering the call, and the proposed talk is so much cooler than I had originally hoped for. Still gonna have that iceberg talk eventually.

OK ANYWAY.... let's talk Demuxed 2024 for a sec.

If you missed the last newsletter, the CFP is OPEN. We also have a sponsorship prospectus out and folks are starting to lock down the options. If you want to get involved, shoot us a note.

🎤 Speakers

Walker "Tom Selleck" Griggs (Mux) - PSSH: Primordial Soup of Streaming Headaches

This week we'll ask ourselves: what's in the box!? Join us for a dive into the PSSH box; how it's used in DRM; and how we've managed to shoehorn Protobuf, XML, XML-ish, JSON and much much more into one unassuming spec.

Gino Bautista (Wizeline) - Gen AI for Live Video Transcription, Summarization, segmentation and Dynamic Clipping

A comprehensive media solution leveraging Gen AI in real time ingest, integrated into your production workflows so you can acquire, create, & deliver live content, news, sports and event coverage at unprecedented speed, while unlocking new audience engagement models and revenue streams.

IRL Logistics
Our host building has security people downstairs, and they require us to have a list of names downstairs for check-in. Just to make sure we can have everyone printed out, please make sure to RSVP by ~5pm on Thursday.

Mux put together a page on details for getting in, office logistics, etc.

Can't wait to see everyone!
