๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ™€SF Video will be IRL this month! Everyone remain calm! ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿข๐Ÿšจ

It's been 2 years since our last in-person meetup. For the February 2020 meetup, Zoe Liu talked about AV1 optimizations in the Heavybit clubhouse, and I'm fairly certain that may have been the last meetup ever in the space since Heavybit decided to close the clubhouse over the break. Pour one out for the place that hosted us for ~4 years.

The good news is, though, is that Mux just moved into a shiny new building and has a meeting space that should work out pretty well! The bad news (for old timers) is that now we actually need to have folks RSVP so we can use the check-in list in the lobby.

Jordi Cenzano (Meta) - RTMP GoAway (at Meta): What is it? How can I implement it and test it?

At Meta we implemented RTMP Go Away, this is a new mechanism that allows the live RTMP server to send a signal to the client indicating that it needs to reconnect. This allows the client to create a new connection at a logical media boundary, incurring zero data loss in your live streams.

This feature is already implemented in Meta servers and we are going to share all technical details and show how to implement it, and finally we will show how you can test your implementation against Meta servers.

IRL Logistics

Our host building has security people downstairs, and they require us to give them a list of names for events at least 24 hours in advance. Yes, I think that's lame too, but as a result we need folks to RSVP by Wednesday, March 30 4pm PT.

Mux put together a page on details for getting in, COVID protocols, etc. Everyone needs to be fully vaccinated and there are specific check-in instructions on the page. Given that Envoy usually requires emails to send out check-in links ahead of time we might just need to have folks sign in on the app as you come in, but if we can send out emails via Meetup we will (keep an eye out).

Otherwise, it'll just be like old times, and we'll have the traditional pizza and beverages.

Can't wait to see folks!
