For our March meetup we have invited Dan from Twitter to talk about recent performance enhancements his team has been working on. Dan Webb is the founder and manager of Twitter's Web Core team and a co-author of the Flight framework.
There's been a lot of debate over whether client-side or server-side rendering is the "fastest" and over the last couple of years twitter.com (http://twitter.com/) has sat on both sides of that particular fence. This talk will cover how its not valuable to debate which of these techniques is the best but instead we should consider how they address your project's particular set of circumstances. We'll show you how we defined 'fast' for twitter.com (http://twitter.com/), how we measured it and then talk about some of the decisions we made that put us on the road to impressive speed improvements for our users.
The event is hosted at Yelp on Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 at 7:00PM. Doors open at 6:30PM. Food and drinks will be provided by our sponsor Yelp (thanks guys!).
Note about your RSVP: please use your first/last name to RSVP and bring a government issued id as Yelp's security will use that information before letting you in the building. Thank you!
