Midweek Sail!
Like to sail mid week? Join me for a relaxed Wednesday sail on my new, comfortably equipped, 38 foot Beneteau out of the Pier 39 Marina. This time of year we set sail mid morning and return to dock late afternoon - the crew will get more specific details on where to meet and what to bring a couple of days before each sail when the weather forecasts are more likely to be accurate. We always see a lot of wildlife when we're out on the water - harbor porpoises. sea lions, pelicans, gulls, cormorants, and much more. The views from the water are spectacular - San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, etc. - and are always changing with the weather and time of day. We often anchor somewhere quiet for a potluck picnic lunch aboard (plan to bring food/drink to share), but sometimes we go to a local restaurant with a guest dock for lunch ashore instead. No cost and no sailing skill or experience required. Even if you've never sailed before, I'll gladly give you a turn at the wheel if conditions are safe. Please pitch in with setting up the boat before we sail and stay after to help clean up and put away the boat at the end. This sail is set as waitlist only! I will notify you if you have a place at least a couple of days before the sail. Please respond very promptly or I will move on to another person from the waitlist! Don't forget to include your cell phone number and email address with your rsvp even if you have sailed with me before.

What we're about

*Before you hit the "Join" button, be sure to read the photo requirements and general information below.*

We are the original sailing Meetup group in the Bay Area, and the most active. You don't have to know how to sail to be part of the group. However, you do have to fulfill some basic requirements. Please be sure to do this or you may not be able to join or remain in the group. The information you need is at the links below, as well as repeated on the profile sign-up page. If you find it challenging to read the documentation and upload a compliant photo from a mobile device, you may want to wait to until you are in front of a larger screen before joining. Our documentation has not been optimized for viewing on mobile devices.

GENERAL INFORMATION offered by Wendy (

The purpose of this meetup group is to promote and share the passions of sailing. Anyone interested in sailing who has satisfied the requirements (compliant photo, completed profile) may join. We try to offer inexpensive sailing opportunities for everyone. All our events are free, unlike other groups, which charge people to sail. The only time we charge people is when the event is a charter-share and everyone "chips in" on the cost to charter the boat. We don't believe in using the Meetup platform to run a business or promote the commercial interests of others without benefit to our members.

People with boats often welcome guests aboard to help pull ropes and turn cranks, which is called "crewing."

And for those interested in racing or increasing their skill level, crewing for race boats is the best way to get a lot of fun, inexpensive, thrilling sailing with a dedicated crew.

Here is a great little example of some fast sailing and what one of our events is like: Click here (

As explained in the mandatory reading at the links above, please note that members with 2 "No Show"s to events will be removed from the group, and some captains may exercise their prerogative to remove after the first no-show or last-minute cancel.

If you no-show to an actual sailing event, or prevent others from sailing because you changed your RSVP to no within 48 hours of a sailing event, you could be removed from the group.

Please update your RSVP in time so the boat owners and captains can plan accordingly. This is a courtesy to your fellow Meetup members to make planning easier and not waste limited seats on a boat.
