How's Trump Doing? Let's Debate Using the Ben Franklin Method.

Details

Not sure how you feel about President Trump? Just joking. But do you know why you feel that way?

The "Ben Franklin" technique is an analytical technique that can help you know why. The technique breaks down a topic (Trump!) into a list of subtopics. Each topic gets a weight (relative importance), and a vote: pro, con, and neutral. Adding together all of the individual items into a whole, the analyst can make a decision about how they feel and why.

Here is a possible "Ben Franklin" list for Trump here. Please look at it now. It's a Google Sheet. Make a copy, save it, and edit as you please. And get ready to defend it. Defend your list, your weights, and your votes. BTW, Paper and pencil also work.

We'll begin the night asking each participant on how they feel about Trump. Pro? Con? Neutral?

We will then enter into a open table debate about the particulars about why people feel the way to do. As the night goes on, ideally, people will update their Ben Franklin lists.

We'll end the night again going around the room to see if anyone has had their mind changed, all due to Dr. Franklin.

See you Wednesday, August 13, 7 pm.
